The North coast is visited far more than the South coast because of its close proximity to the airport and city of Mombasa where there are more attractions outside the confines of the beach hotels and cottages. The North coast comprises of Nyali, Bamburi, Shanzu and Mtwapa beaches. The Nyali beach is nearest to the city with up market facilities such as supermarkets and restaurants. Located here are the Nyali Golf Club and the Mamba Village (Kenya’s largest crocodile farm). Bamburi beach is where Haller Park is located, a rehabilitated cement quarry where Hippos, Monkeys, Tortoises and Crocodiles abound. Shanzu beach is where cottages for budget travelers are located and also villages, among them Ngomongo Village where one may experience the traditional lifestyle of its people. Mtwapa beach is the last located furthest north and here is where one would experience game fishing and also dine at a mainly sea food floating restaurant or dhow (Moorings Restaurant) located along the Mtwapa Creek.

Voyager Beach Resort, Sarova Whitesands Resort & Spa and Serena Beach Hotel & Spa.
