Naro Moru Route (3 nights 4 days)

Mt. Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya. Any healthy and well acclimatized person can climb this mountain to as far as Lenana Peak (4985 M), but only a skilled mountain climber can reach up to Batian Peak (5199 M), the highest point. There are several routes used to get to Lenana Peak. The Naro Moru route is the most popular for its simplicity, shorter time and variety of sceneries.

DAY 1   3-4 hour walk from

Naro Moru River Lodge (1982 M) to Met. Station (3048 M).

The morning is spent sorting and organizing personal equipment for the trek before climbers are driven (or walk) along the Naro Moru Track to the Met. Station (10,000 ft). The night is spent in the mountain log cabins. After sleeping at Met Station, you are bound to be well acclimatized by also taking a short hike in the afternoon to gain and lose altitude.

DAY 2   6 hour walk from

the Met. station (3050 M) to Mackinders Camp (4150 M).

Hike for 4-6 hours into the Teleki Valley for a stunning view of the main peaks and camp overnight at Mackinder’s Camp.

DAY 3    5-6 hour walk from

Mackinders Camp to Point Lenana (4985 M).

A pre-dawn start ensures a successful summit bid in time for a clear view of the majestic scenery at the pinnacle of Mt. Kenya. After ascending to Lenana, you return to the base camp, descend to the base of the mountain and make your way to Met. station. Stay overnight at Met. station. Alternatively, stay overnight at Naro Moru River Lodge (in this case you will be picked at Met. Station by our staff and transferred to the lodge).

DAY 4

Descend from Met. Station to Naro Moru River Lodge.
